Canal Division has invited bids for the soil investigation & data for stability analysis: based on the review of is 6955:2008 (reaffirmed 2020), the cwc-drip manual for assessing the structural safety of existing dams, and the investigation requirements communicated by smec, it is proposed to undertake a comprehensive geotechnical and geophysical characterization programme as per guidelines & is code., 1. earthen dam: soil investigation and laboratory test reports of existing embankment and foundation materials shall be obtained. this shall include:, dry and saturated unit weights, cohesion (c), and angle of internal friction () for embankment dam materials (both core and shell if zoned) for saturated and submerged conditions, and foundation materials up to at least half the corresponding height of the dam., coefficient of permeability (k) for embankment dam materials (both core and shell if zoned) and its foundation materials up to at least half the corresponding height of the dam., 2. masonry dam & spillway: in-situ material test reports of existing dam and its foundation materials shall be obtained. this shall include:, dam: unit weight, poisson's ratio, elastic / deformation modulus, compressive strength, and tensile strength., foundation: rock-mass properties including elastic/deformation modulus, unit weight, poisson's ratio, cohesion (c), and angle of internal friction.
